U4GM MLB The Show 26 3rd Inning XP grind 2026

MLB The Show 26 3rd Inning Program missions can speed up your grind. See which modes boost XP fastest and where 93 Delgado, 94 Burnes drop.

So I stopped brute-forcing 3rd Inning and started treating it like a mission stack, and the XP pace got way better. I know some people are just farming whatever mode they already like, but imo that's why the grind feels awful. Since it went live on May 8, 2026, I've been bouncing between Conquest and quick offline stuff, and when I needed a little roster help I ended up finding MLB The Show 26 stubs there just to finish a couple lineup spots for mission cards. Hitting 400,000 XP still isn't free, but it stopped feeling like a second job once I quit ignoring the side objectives.

What I've been running

The best loop for me has been 1) clear chunks of the 3rd Inning Conquest map, 2) knock out the easy hit and HR missions while doing it, 3) only jump into Showdown when I'm actually locked in. Most guides recommend just spamming games for passive XP, but that felt super mid in my runs. The map alone seems crazy good because you're getting program XP, hidden packs, and progress on those random stat goals at the same time. I can't swear the exact total is perfect, but finishing the whole map felt closer to that 30,000 to 45,000 XP range people have been throwing around, and that's way better than mindless CPU grinding.

Why Showdown is still worth it

Look, the 500-stub entry is annoying, and I know half the community acts like Showdown is either free XP or total scam depending on the day. But if you can actually beat it, 20,000 XP for one clean run is legit. I tested this after wasting time in Ranked trying to stack runs there, and honestly the return wasn't even close unless you're already sweating online anyway. Weekend Classic can help too if the lineup rules line up with current missions, especially when they want runs or certain division players, but I haven't tested co-op XP enough to say if it's secretly better with friends.

The rewards people actually care about

Let's be real, most of us aren't grinding this for standard packs. You're doing it for the boss pack and maybe the stepping-stone cards on the way. The 93 Carlos Delgado and 94 Corbin Burnes are nice gets, even if they're mostly roster glue and not market flips. And the 95 bosses are why this program matters. Lindor looks goated for anyone who values defense and switch hitting, while Soto is just raw damage and will probably slap in a ton of lineups for a while. The one thing I'm still not clear on is future season eligibility, because if these cards get boxed in later, that changes how hard some people should push.

Here's the thing though

If you're stuck, stop pretending passive XP alone is enough and start stacking objectives on purpose. Daily stuff, Conquest, then Showdown if you're feeling good. And if you've got that Season 1 collection voucher sitting there for the 50,000 XP jump, don't sleep on it, because that's a massive skip. I also saw someone say difficulty might gate some of this efficiency, and yeah, maybe, but afaik a lot of the value is still there even if you're mostly a casual offline player. I've also used U4GM before when I needed to patch up a roster fast instead of flipping cards for an hour, and that let me get back to the actual grind way quicker. Hope this helps.
