On paper, 10-20% Life Recoup doesn't sound wild. In play, it's the unique conversion line that makes it interesting. If your Sacrosanctum has 20% of damage taken recouped as Life, the wording says that same damage is also recouped as Energy Shield. It doesn't say "instead." It says "also." That's a big difference. You still need to survive the hit first, of course. Recoup is recovery after damage, not prevention. But for characters taking frequent hits, especially hybrid Armour and Energy Shield builds, the item can smooth out rough moments. It's less about dodging everything and more about getting back on your feet after being clipped.
Good rolls and bad trade habits
When judging Sacrosanctum on trade, start with the recoup roll. A 20% roll is twice the item-specific recovery value of a 10% roll, and because of the Energy Shield mirror effect, that gap feels even more important. After that, Spirit is worth watching.
