Paving the Way is one of those ARC Raiders jobs that looks vague until you stop treating it like a normal map-marker quest. Before heading out, it helps to think of ARC Raiders Items as part of your prep, not the reason to wander off course. The quest is really split between two maps. Dam Battlegrounds gives you the researcher's clue, while Buried City holds the actual data. Keep those two tasks separate and the whole thing feels far less messy.

Start in Dam Battlegrounds at Water Treatment Control. You do not need to tear through every room or chase loot upstairs. Come in from the southern side, head for the main entrance, and check around the doorway for the notice board. That board carries the researcher's note. A lot of players run straight inside and miss it, then spend five minutes checking storage rooms for nothing. Once the interaction lands, glance at the tracker before leaving. If it has not ticked off, stay by the entrance and move around the board until the prompt appears.

What to remember before entering Piazza Roma

The Buried City section is where people usually get turned around. Piazza Roma is only the neighbourhood. The Convinio is the landmark you need, and the flat is above it. Street-level shops are a dead end for this quest. You are looking for a climb through the building, then a rooftop connection into the upper rooms.

• Find the Convinio building in Piazza Roma.
• Use interior stairs and keep climbing instead of searching lower flats.
• Cross the upper rooftop connection when you reach it.
• Check rooms with terminals, computers, or research gear.

That route sounds simple on paper, but it can get awkward when another squad is already moving through the stairwell. Slow down before pushing the top floors. Footsteps bounce around those interiors, so someone might be above you, below you, or on the roof next door. You do not have to clear the whole building. Deal with anything blocking the stairs or the data room, then get the interaction done. The research data is tied to a specific prompt, so merely reaching the upper floor will not finish the job.

It is usually smarter to handle this across two deployments. Get the ENELICA note first, then load into Buried City with a clean plan and enough room to leave quickly. If you have picked up useful ARC Items along the way, do not let a side loot run drag you into a bad fight. Check the tracker after each interaction, climb above the Convinio, search the computer-equipped flat, and move out once the data has registered.
