News about Alpha’s new skin has been absolutely everywhere across MLBB lately. The official confirmation has finally landed: Alpha Edict of the Sands.

Alpha is basically one of my go-to mains. I started out using only his default skin, and have gradually picked up various event-exclusive skins over time. To me this hero is straightforward and hard-hitting, but he’s always lacked a truly standout flagship skin. His previous limited-edition skins were decent, but they always felt like they fell a little short. So as soon as this news broke, I immediately tuned into Poppo Live waiting for the teaser. Sure enough, I got the full first look at Edict of the Sands, and it completely won me over. I even sent some gifts to the MLBB guide streamer I follow regularly as a little bonus.

This time, the skin won’t be available via direct shop purchase — it will be released exclusively through the Epic Treasure Rush event.

To be honest, my heart sank a little when I first heard it would be in Epic Treasure Rush, worried it’d turn out to be another bottomless money pit. But after checking out the pity system, I felt much more reassured. You’re guaranteed to obtain the skin at 540 Diamonds, which is significantly cheaper than regular Epic Skins sold directly in the in-game store. On top of that, the event offers a free first draw — you get one pull completely for free just by logging in.

If you’re running low on Diamonds and don’t want to splurge heavily, you can check out COCODP first. The platform sometimes offers better-value top-up packages compared to the in-game store. Personally, I always compare options there before making any purchases ahead of a major event.

This skin’s design is genuinely crafted with great attention to detail. It adopts a pharaoh guardian theme, but rather than leaning into a purely retro Egyptian aesthetic, it seamlessly weaves ancient Egyptian elements into Alpha’s core character design. The entry animation is set against a backdrop of pyramid relief carvings, with Alpha clad in full black-and-gold gilded pharaoh armor and surrounded by swirling sand visual effects. From the very first glance, it already feels like Diamonds well spent.

When it comes to skill effects, the most impressive standout is undoubtedly Spear of Alpha. As the giant sand-crystal spear slams down, it blasts a miniature pyramid mark straight into the ground. Throughout the entire duration of the sandstorm’s continuous damage, the screen is filled with golden sand particles, delivering an incredibly satisfying visual experience. I’m personally a big fan of this “ancient meets futuristic” design style, and these effects carry a real sense of intimidation for opponents during matches. On top of that, this skin also features exclusive idle animations and a dedicated in-game showcase background.

On a side note, Phase 2 of the Premium Supply event for the MLBB x Street Fighter collaboration is also just around the corner, set to go live around July 17. That event also comes with top-up missions. If you’re planning to go for both, I’d recommend getting a clear grasp of the Street Fighter supply mission details first before spending your draws on Edict of the Sands.

In my opinion, MLBB has really pulled out all the stops for Alpha this time — unlike some older Epic Skins that were little more than simple recolors sold at full price. Both the quality of its skill effects and its thematic design make Edict of the Sands more than worthy of the title of Alpha’s best skin in recent years. What’s more, with a guaranteed pity cost of 540 Diamonds, it’s genuinely a very player-friendly price given the current in-game skin pricing landscape.

Personally, I’ve already stocked up on Diamonds and plan to grab it on day one. If you main Alpha, or simply love this blend of Egyptian and sci-fi aesthetics, I’d say this skin is well worth going for.
